Why do footballers get paid so much money for kicking a ball?

Not all footballers are paid loads of money, certainly all players in the top divisions at clubs around Europe are, but most of the lower league players are on quite basic wages and for a lot of them its nothing more than a part-time job, while during the week they do normal jobs such as being an electrician or a plumber.

Big clubs in all the top divisions are ambitious and they earn a lot of revenue from large crowds that attend each home match, merchandise sold and money generated through finishing positions in major tournaments. This enables them to buy the very best footballers in the world and offer them the sort of wages that have been introduced over the last 10 years or so.

Unlike normal jobs a footballers career is quite short, most players reach their peak at about the age range of 30-35, whereas ordinary workers work until they are 60-65, this could be argued then that top footballers deserve what they are paid for the job that they do, also the fact that if they receive a nasty injury their career would be cut short after their current contract ended.

There will always be debate about what they are paid at the highest level, some people will argue why teachers, military personnel, nurses and doctors are not paid as much, but it is the employers choice to what they pay their staff.

Personally I think it is a little bit ridiculous that a footballer can earn £150,000 a week for kicking a ball on a Saturday afternoon for 90 minutes and a few training sessions during the week, but I would not be complaining had it been me. People will always be divided on whether it is right or wrong or whether they deserve such huge wages.

Guide to football betting

This guide to football betting will highlight a lot of the different sorts of bets you can do. It will also explain how each bet works.

90 Minute Market
The first and most used market is the traditional 90 minutes market.

This market basically has 3 selections in which you can choose. They are Home, Draw or Away. Depending on what outcome you think the match will end. If you think the home side will win you back this, and same applies for draw and away.

Most bets are placed on this 90 minute market.

Draw no Bet
This bet offers you added security unlike the 90 minute market. If for example you think the home side will win, but you are a little worried about a draw letting you down.

If you back on home side or away side using this bet, if the game does end up a draw you get all your stake back and lose nothing.

The odds will be reduced slightly than what you would be offered in the 90 minute market, but you do have the game being a draw protecting you. Of course if the opposite selection you chose wins, you would lose your bet.

Correct Score
You will find the odds in correct score at quite high prices, this is because how difficult it is to get correct. When betting on the correct score market you are predicting what the final score will be at the end of the game.

Because the odds are quite high it is possible while doing this bet to select various outcomes. For example if you think a team will win 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 or 3-1 you can back all 4 and profit if the outcome is one of these.

Asian handicaps
Asian handicaps vary widely and are slightly more complicated than normal bets, but do provide you with odds that may seem more lucrative for you.

For example say Arsenal were playing and you fancied them to win but the odds were a little short. With Asian handicapping you could perhaps give the other side a 1 or 2 goal head start in the game, therefore giving you much better back odds for Arsenal. In general this is how this betting works, and there are loads of different rules.

Half Time/Full Time
With this bet you are choosing what outcomes will be at end of the 1st half, and what the outcomes will be at the end of the game.

So if you think the game will be a draw at half-time, but the home team will be the winners by full-time, you would bet on draw/home. Or if you thought away team would be winning at end of the 1st half, and then game would end a draw, you would back away/draw.

There are 9 selections in total you can choose, as there is only 9 possible outcomes that can happen. They are home/home – home/draw – home/away – draw/home – draw/draw – draw/away – away/home – away/draw and away/away.

Next Goal
You can use this bet if you have a strong feeling a team will score the next goal. If they do score the next goal in the match you win. If the other team scores the next goal you lose. This bet is mostly used when the game is live and in-play.

Over / Under Goals
This bet is exactly what it says, you can back for many types including 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, and sometimes other games go higher.

If you thought the game was going to have 3 goals or more you would back over 2.5 goals. You would only lose this bet if the game ended 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, 2-0 or 0-2. However if you had backed under 2.5 goals, you would have won on any of those previous outcomes.

That is how over and under goals work.

That is mostly all the most popular markets when betting on football.

Any over 1.5 goals strategy for football?

Betting / trading on over goals is a favourite of mine in football. My over 1.5 goals strategy is when I combine two together, and put them both in one multiple to increase the overall winnings.

Most all the over 1.5 goals markets have odds of around 1.30 to 1.40. I tend to not pick any if they are under 1.30. The reason I do it this way is that when you combine two together it is almost even money or thereabouts.

For example I target what two selections I want, and if one is 1.36 and the other is 1.44, when I place a £10 bet on this being a double my overall winnings will be £9.69! Doing it this way just means you have to get more correct than wrong and you will always be in profit.

I am quite confident of my ability to select two over 1.5 games, and to get more right than wrong over the long term.

Additionally and this is very important with the method I am using. I tend to do this when both games will be starting at the same kick-off time, and the reason I do this is I keep an eye on the scores live.

If one game has already went over 1.5 goals, say for example it is 1-1 with 20 minutes played. I know this part of the double bet has won. I can now solely concentrate on the other match. If I feel that goals are not going to come I can lay the 1.5 goals and still get out for a profit. Doing this gives you a strategy to trade your position.

Tips For The Ones That Are Interested In Betting

Nowadays most bookmakers will allow you to bet in-play on football matches, but my preference for live in-play betting is on betting exchanges.

Wherever you choose to do it, there are a few things you should know about in-play betting:

1) There is always some sort of delay before your bet will be matched & accepted. This is usually about 8 seconds long. This is to prevent you placing a bet as a soon as a goal has been scored, or, if you were at the actual match and you had the quickest knowledge of there being a goal just been scored.

2) There are risks involved with in-play betting on football. For example you could place an in-play bet and just as your bet has been accepted, the opposition score a goal, your bet will have still been placed leaving you in a somewhat awkward position.

However the opposite can work in your favour also, the team you just backed can score a goal and take a more demanding lead in the match, then your bet was fantastic.

3) In-play betting can be fun if you are watching the match live. On exchanges when you see a team has a nice attack building up, you could actually place a back bet at this time, and if you are lucky enough at the end of the attack they would have scored a goal from it, and if the attack fails then you can always lay yourself back out the bet and try again next time. Something not possible at the bookmakers.

Just be careful though, the other team could always quickly get the ball and counter attack and score, leaving you in a very vulnerable position.

4) Also be careful of in-play betting particularly at bookmakers when not watching the game.

Occasionally their setup can make errors and show wrong results, and they are not liable for any errors they show. So keep an eye out for the event you are betting on, do not always rely entirely on what is being shown to you on one site.

What is Asian Handicapping in football?

Asian handicapping in football is when you have an additional clause in your bet, for example say Manchester United are playing Barcelona in the champions league, and you think Barcelona will end up winning quite comfortably.

You could give Manchester a +1 goal advantage, so in theory you are wanting Barcelona to win but they are already losing by one goal before the match even kicks off.

This is how all Asian handicapping works, but with quite a lot of different scenarios, not just the one above.

Personally I have only ever bet with this method a handful of times, I prefer to stick to a selection and whether I think they will win or not in 90 minutes, but it’s the odds that are offered on these markets which make them quite attractive.

It is also not just football where you will find this sort of market, but almost on every sporting event.

Over Under Explained in Football?

When betting or trading on football, over and under goals is a nice market to play around with and it is not to difficult to understand and get the hang of quickly.

Over

When betting for over you are saying the total amount of goals will be over the amount you are betting on. Here is an example of the markets:

Over 0.5 – You are saying the game will have 1 goal or more, if not you lose.
Over 1.5 – You are saying the game will have 2 goals or more, if not you lose.
Over 2.5 – 3 goals or more, if not you lose.
Over 3.5 – 4 goals or more, if not you lose.

This continues on, sometimes some matches will go up to over 7.5 goals, you will not see this so often, but usually will if a really strong team is playing a really weak team, think of Barcelona v East Stirlingshire.
Under is the opposite of over, here is an example:

Under

Under 0.5 – If game has no goals you win, any goal and you lose.
Under 1.5 – If game has no goals or 1 goal you win, anymore and you lose.
Under 2.5 – 2 goals or less, if not you lose.
Under 3,5 – 3 goals or less, if not you lose.

I hope that explained how both over and under work, and also remember in both these markets, it does not matter who scores the goals, it is the total amount combined from both teams.

What Over 4.5 Goals Means In Betting?

When betting on over 4.5 goals your basically betting that the football match will have 5 goals or more.

It does not matter what team scores the goals, as long as the game has 5 goals (or more) you will win.

For example, if you were to bet on over 4.5 goals with Manchester United playing Arsenal, and the full-time score ended 3-2, you have won, if the score ended 3-1 you have lost.

When you back over 4.5 goals, this is all the results where you would lose your bet:

Draw: 0-0, 1-1, 2-2

Home Win: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1, 4-0

Away Win: 0-1, 0-2, 1-2, 0-3, 1-3, 0-4

You will also find markets for big football games where you can bet on over 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 goals.

The betting companies usually add these on if the game in question has a high chance of lots of goals. For instance, if Real Madrid are playing at home against someone near the bottom of the table in La Liga.

Apart from the over goals market, you can also opt for under 4.5 goals. Of course though, the odds for this will be much lower, as the majority of football games do end with under 4.5 goals.

What is betting under 1.5 goals in football?

When betting on under 1.5 goals you are predicting that you do not expect the football match to have many goals and you certainly do not think the match will have 2 or more goals.

The odds available on under 1.5 goals is usually quite good as lots of games have 2 or more goals, so the odds are less attractive when betting on over 1.5.

Example Football Match

AC Milan are playing Chelsea at home in the Champions League, you expect this game to be a very tight affair so you bet on under 1.5 goals.

If this match ends 0-0, 1-0 or 0-1 you have won your bet and you were correct, it was quite a tight game. However any other results at all and you would have lost your bet.

Under 1.5 goals basically means you think the game will have 1 goal or none.

I do all my under 1.5 bets at Betdaq, as I can lay my positions their also. Which means if for example the game starts very quiet with no goals as predicted, however you have a feeling goals will be coming, you can lay out your bet for guaranteed profit.

What does 0.5 goals mean in betting?

When betting on 0.5 goals you have the option of backing under or over. Below both concepts are explained:

When you back 0.5 goals you are predicting that the game will have 1 goal or more scored. If any goal is scored you will have won the bet.

With this selection you would only lose if the match ended a draw and was 0-0

Backing Under 0.5 Goals

When you back under 0.5 goals you are predicting that the match will have no goals. This bet is identical to backing correct score 0-0, as the only way this bet is won is if no goals are scored.

The same rules apply for all other similar goal markets, including over and under 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5. In some matches higher options are available and can go up to 8.5 goals.

PlanetOfBets Number One Betting Site

I have placed bet on various website. But it was PlanetOfBets that I enjoyed being at. Page loads faster. Betting system is cool and placing bet is easy as pie. Depositing and Payout system is faster than any other site. And above all, this site is not illegal. It is a registered site and is fully legal and legit.

Planetofbets.com is another online bookie for sports betting or trading. This Russian site has been in business for years and is been known to offer a good platform for both outplay and inplay games at reasonable odds.

Planetofbets.com has a unique flash site design which gives an enhanced betting style and is mobile friendly. The black background of their site also helps to dim the screen brightness so you can bet inplay for hours without feeling any eye pain.

Like every other bookie, Planetofbets.com offers various games which include Soccer, Tennis, American football, Ice hockey, Basketball, Baseball and so on. They also offer lots of live games especially on Soccer, Tennis and Basketball. These give you a lot of games to bet especially if you want to use live betting as a new found occupation.

However, Planetofbets.com isn't listed under the top 100 bookmakers but it's known for its instant deposit and withdrawals. since ecurrencies are used, you can deposit and withdraw your funds more than thrice a day...Isn't that COOL!!!

Yes, ecurrency payment processors are the major means of depositing money into your P.O.B. account. You can easily deposit and withdraw into the same e-wallet. The main ecurrency used before was Liberty Reserve but since its shutdown, punters have diverted to Perfect Money and WebMoney. Using ecurrencies however involves the use of ecurrency exchangers through which ecurrencies are bought or sold with real money. They also offer Visa/ Mastercard payment option but its easier to use for Russian punters.

Suspended and postponed games are cancelled after 24 hours and the total odds on the betslip are recalculated and processed. The best thing about Planetofbets.com is their partner program as it has no period limit like nairabet.com

I'll end this post by adding that it is wise to have accounts with various bookies as every bookie offers different odds and markets so you have the chance to choose the one that offers the highest odds for maximum profits. Always remember to stake wisely and never borrow money to gamble.
